BIBLE VERSE Psalm 51
How to repent correctly? This question can be heard more and more often in recent days. Due to the growing interest in religion, many, not having sufficient knowledge about spiritual matters, want to be sure that they are doing everything correctly. And those who are not already beginners in Christianity, if they do not raise this question, often think to themselves: “What do I really need in order to receive God's forgiveness? Should we pray, confess our sins, do some good deed to compensate for our sins, or should we continue to suffer for the rest of our lives in the uncertainty of whether God has forgiven us?
Sin is the most terrible thing that can happen to people. It separates them from God, it causes heartache, it is the cause of countless misfortunes, putting them in the status of criminals, with inevitable punishment hanging over their heads. All our problems are to one degree or another connected with human sin. Having once rebelled against God, people have put themselves in constant competition with God. Struggling for their supposed right to control their lives, people have filled this life with sin and, consequently, with its painful consequences. In their desperate efforts to escape the bitter consequences of sin, they sink deeper into this mire.
Fortunately for us (fortunately), God has provided a way out of this predicament. That way out is repentance—real, true repentance. Thanks to God’s mercy, expressed in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary, people today have the wonderful opportunity to be forgiven, cleansed, and freed from the guilt of sin.
This book by Alexei Prokopenko tells of that opportunity. Psalm 51, which is the basis of this book, describes the scene of repentance of one of the greatest men in human history, the biblical King David. God has made sure that all who will read His Word throughout the centuries have a vivid example of repentance, an example that will help them repent personally.
With his characteristic insight and precision, Alexei Prokopenko presents a deep analysis of this psalm, showing its practical significance for those who want to gain the happiness of liberation from sin today. Explaining the meaning of repentance The essence is that he first of all helps the reader understand what sin is, what is its danger and what needs to be done to forgive sin.
This book will not only enrich your knowledge, but also help you live a victorious life, effectively fighting sin. The author encourages, pointing out that in the most difficult situation there is a way out for us with God. And at the same time he talks about responsibility, clearly stating that sin should not be ignored in any case. Alexey Kolomiytsev Pastor of the "Word of Grace" Bible Church www.slovo.org
